Amazon Product Photography

Images that sell products on Amazon

Amazon is the powerhouse of online sales, it’s growth along with all online stores have been exponential and they look set to continue to grow. The most important part to successfully selling a product for sellers is the images used and their accuracy and quality. If the images represent the product well there will be better sales, better reviews and customers will have a better idea of what they can expect to receive.

For more than 10 years I have produced product and lifestyle images for Amazon sellers, the images have proven to increase sales and provide sellers with images they can use to promote their products on all media platforms.

Essentially there are several types of images for online sales, each has their own use and they all work together to help sell a product:

1)    Product Image – Clean, accurate showing the customer what they can expect to receive.

2)    Lifestyle – These images show the customer how the products fits their lifestyle

3)    Advertising – Hero images, images that show the product in its best light, stylised and “sexy”

When working with online stores such as Amazon, over the years I have developed a list of images that are essential when launching a product, either with or without a high budget:

1)    Image 1 should be a shot of the product and everything the customer can expect to receive when they order it, including any nice packaging, accessories etc

2)    Image 2 & 3 Additional angles of the product showing all the features, the shape and form of the product.

3)
Details: show multiple close ups in one shot of key features including logos

4)    Image 5 & 6 are open and depending on the product this can include lifestyle images, showing the product being used, a short promo video or an image with dimensions.

These are the key elements required for customers to respond positively, the may vary slightly from product to product but serve as a guide towards what I have seen work over many years producing them.

Initially these images are good to help sell products, my clients have found over the years that by adding further lifestyle and product images to their library they can change and update their listings regularly, giving visitors more reason to return.

Having a library of images also means vendors can market test images, they can tailor the listings to speak to their target market, select the most appropriate images for social media platforms and choose the best images to use on advertising.

To accompany great images, a short video is very useful to show the item in use and provides an additional opportunity for the potential customers to connect with a product, below is a budget video  produced from concept to completion in a day that helps the “Cosy Cloud” brand sell their bottles:
