The Rocking Horse Cafe & Gallery - Bank Collie Day by Philip Hunton Photography

“Bank Collie Day” – It’s a dogs life!

A Northumberland cafe was invaded by over 80 collies last Bank holiday monday at an event to raise funds for local dog rescue charity Shak. I had the pleasure of doing video for the event while talented photographer Richard Dunwoody concentrated on the main stills.

The video was produced so it could be presented and shared  on social media, music was sourced and licensed and the video was packaged in a length that people would watch through whilst capturing the spirit of the day and a few words from Stephen Wylie at Shak to give context..

It was a joy and a pleasure to work with a team of people that wanted to help a local dog charity to raise funds and of course, have fun. It was my first outing with the little drone and I planned everything to ensure any filming with it did not disturb the people or dogs at the event. I’m pleased to say the footage worked out well combined with other shots from the day and it was so discreet I was asked a few times if I had even used the drone.

To keep things distant I flew over a roped off field at a distance and shot in 4K 60 fps, then cropped in to make it appear closer. I captured various shots of the dogs throught the day on the agility course and then assisted Richard with anything he needed to get what he wanted.

The collies were on best behaviour throughout the day and everyone was having fun. It was a first taste of a videography service that I am developing and I came away with some good footage, some great experiences and some lessons learned. Every job I do I learn from, I use that experience to further develop my skills and the delivery of the service in the future.
